Emmmm, I have one suggestion guys. You DON’T HAVE A HOBBY SYSTEM ANYMORE, POINT. You CAN’T change everything like that. Get damn HAL fixed, not invent a wheel again - just because of NIH syndrome.
Come on.

This is not NIH. HAL was prototype, it fulfilled its role. Now comes the time fo rewrite.

HAL has also been slightly sluggish. Could we have something native instead of scripted stuff this time? Simply having to run some extra interpreter is *yuch* - especially as everyone seems to have their own favorite. After a while your desktop keeps running constantly python/ruby/perl/tk/java/sh/whatever interpreters. One is not bad, but all them combined is the worst thing ever happened to Linux desktop. Also, HAL is still sometimes slowww.
